PACKAGING

I think it was Calvin Miller who wrote that "hate dresses well to please a buyer", but the best things in life often come in the worst packaging. Especially humans.

The people we need when the storm hits are usually not pretty, because they've been through a hurricane or two themselves. They've been cut and broken, tossed by the waves, slammed into the sand and left behind like driftwood on the shore. They don't mind to hold your dirty hand. They don't mind to patch you up. They bear scars with pride, and love with abandon. They don't have the new car smell, but the comfort of an old, worn jacket.

When the bell goes, I want one of them in my corner.
