The Apostle Peter
Peter was a fisherman from Bethsaida who became one of Jesus's closest disciples. Originally named Simon, Jesus gave him the name Peter (meaning "rock").

Impulsive and passionate, Peter was often the spokesman for the twelve apostles. He witnessed Jesus's transfiguration and was present in the Garden of Gethsemane. Despite his fervent devotion, Peter famously denied knowing Jesus three times during his trial. After Jesus's resurrection. Peter was restored and became a central leader of the early church in Jerusalem. He preached boldly at Pentecost and performed miracles.
